Melissa Isaacs serves the RCOE and the James Center as an administrative specialist. She manages budgets and logistics and supports the center’s other staff members. Isaacs is also the inaugural recipient of the RCOE Outstanding Staff Award (2018).
She said, “I do my best to make sure everything is done behind the scenes so that my colleagues can focus on their work of supporting students.” She loves supporting students on campus and off.
She joined the RCOE in the same role for the college’s Department of Reading Education and Special Education in 2013 before moving to the James Center in 2017. Prior to coming to Appalachian, she worked at Hardin Park Elementary School for 13 years. This work, according to Isaacs, helped prepare her to understand what RCOE students will face in their roles as teachers.
Isaacs enjoys exploring Boone and the surrounding area with her husband of 37 years, where they watched two daughters grow up and now have the pleasure of being grandparents.
