Rebecca K. Murray earned her undergraduate degrees in Recreation Management and Technical Photography from Appalachian State University in 2014. In May of 2020 she completed her master’s degree, at Appalachian, in Higher Education with a concentration in Community College and University Leadership.
Rebecca has previously served as an Assistant Director in the Office of Admissions at Appalachian. Working with students, forming meaningful relationships, and helping them find their place at Appalachian were her favorite parts of her role in Admissions. The opportunity to join the James Center as an Academic Advisor is a natural progression of her professional work and she is thrilled to serve students in the RCOE. Rebecca is committed to inclusive excellence and recognizes that inclusion and excellence are one in the same in the service of students, which is a core value of the James Center for Student Success and Advising.
Rebecca enjoys spending time outdoors with her wife and their two pups (occasionally joined by their cat), hiking and exploring the region. You can often find her at her favorite local coffee shop, driving the Parkway, floating around Watauga Lake, wandering the Farmer's Market on Saturdays in the summer, or at Kidd Brewer Stadium in the fall watching the Mountaineers play.
