First Steps to Teaching

First Steps to Teaching

UPDATE: THE APRIL 2 AND APRIL 3 MEETINGS HAVE BEEN CANCELLED. FIRST STEPS MEETINGS WILL RESUME FALL 2020 SEMESTER

The First Steps to Teaching meeting is one in a series of Reich College of Education sponsored meetings for all newly declared and pending declared majors. This meeting is one of the requirements for submitting your official Application to Teacher Ed.

Students will be introduced to key faculty and staff in the College of Education. Students will interact with faculty and staff through individual sessions in order to develop an understanding of what is needed to be successful as a newly declared teacher education major at Appalachian State University.

The First Steps to Teaching Meeting is grounded in the five North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards.

The North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards are the basis for teacher preparation, teacher evaluation, and professional development. These standards help define what teachers need to know and do to be able to teach students in the 21st Century.

We look forward to your participation!
