SNCAE (Student North Carolina Association of Educators)
Diverse Abilities Committee
The purpose of the Diverse Abilities is to promote awareness and increase knowledge of inclusive practice related to varying diverse abilities. This includes promoting Coffee Talks with Scholars with Diverse Abilities Program, hosting the Valentine’s Day Dance, assisting with the Spooky Duke 5K that benefits Parent 2 Parent, and partnering with Best Buddies to support our students with diverse abilities!
This committee plans fundraisers, designs and sells t-shirts, and raises funds for our club. Funds go a long way and the fundraising activities they do would not be such a success without YOU! Be sure to let the committee know if you would like to buy or sell anything!
This committee organizes involvement with Homecoming festivities and competitions, including the annual Blood Drive, Lip Sync Battle, Banner Contest, Parade/Float Contest, Kazoo Band, and more! Get involved with us!
This committee works closely with the James Center to plan outreach events with schools that come to visit. They recruit volunteers and plan activities for each visit. Events this committee sponsors include volunteering at School Fall Festivals, School Supply Drives, and AppEd Reads!
This committee is responsible for helping with recruitment events in the Reich College of Education and also recruiting new members to our club. Recruitment’s major events include Fall and Winter Club Expo, Open Houses, and more!
Shining Light Committee
This committee organizes, plans, and executes the Shining Light project at the end of the Fall semester. They work with local schools to sponsor students and families who need a little extra help around the holidays. In the Spring, this committee helps with the annual Clothing Swap and Drive.
The Student Chapter of the North Carolina Association of Educators is a committee that sponsors education on legislation, professional developments about social justice and legislative topics, and works with the NCAE to bring information about educational legislation in our state.
Social/Public Relations Committee
Social/PR runs the Appalachian Educators Instagram and Facebook pages, captures exciting moments at our meetings and events, and helps promote our club in various ways. They also promote club engagement and highlight students who are actively involved!
The Sustainability Committee is responsible for planning events about sustainability and providing professional development opportunities to educate others about sustainability topics. They assist Shining Light with the Clothing Swap and Drive and have other opportunities for you to become involved!
